In a dominating display, Ave Maria AWC thrashed NAVELIM VILLAGERS 14-0 in a U-13 Division League 2022-23 match held at Don Bosco Fatorda. Ave Maria AWC were in complete control of the game right from the start, with Dalston Rodrigues scoring in the second minute to give them the early lead.

Emmanuel Carvalho doubled their lead in the 10th minute, before Shekhar Lamani added a third in the 23rd minute. Carvalho scored again in the 26th minute, followed by a brace from Slayden Gonsalves in the 27th and 29th minute. Rodrigues also added two more goals in the 30th and 34th minute to complete his hat-trick. Carvalho completed his hat-trick with a goal in the 43rd minute, while Jovison Braganca scored in the 48th minute. Gonsalves added two more goals in the 50th and 53rd minute, while Lamani scored his second of the match in the 66th minute. Niyaz Shaik completed the scoring for AVE MARIA AWC with a goal in the 70th minute.

In another match, Pax of Nagoa emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over Youth Welfare SC Assolna. Saumit Naik opened the scoring for Pax of Nagoa in the 14th minute, setting the tone for a dominant performance. Bamadev Garnaik doubled the lead in the 36th minute, leaving Youth Welfare SC Assolna with a mountain to climb.

However, Vollan Coutinho pulled one back for Youth Welfare SC Assolna just before halftime, giving them hope of a comeback. But it was not to be, as Franny Mesquita sealed the win for Pax of Nagoa with a goal in the 50th minute.

Overall, it was a deserved victory for Pax of Nagoa, who were in control for much of the match. Youth Welfare SC Assolna fought hard, but ultimately could not keep up with their opponents. The result leaves Pax of Nagoa in a strong position in their league, while Youth Welfare SC Assolna will need to regroup and come back stronger in their next match.

In a highly anticipated GFA First Division League match in the Salcete Zone, Cortalim Villagers and SCC Cavelossim Navelim faced off against each other. The match was held at 4.00 PM and both teams were eager to secure a win.

Cortalim Villagers started the match strongly, with Preston Fernandes scoring a goal in the 45+3 minute, giving his team a 1-0 lead at halftime. SCC Cavelossim Navelim dominated the second half, and finally, in the 78th minute, Maven Gracras scored an equalizer for his team, making the score 1-1.

Despite both teams’ efforts to score a winning goal, the match ended in a draw.

GFA SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE

In an action-packed football game between PVC Association and Goan Warriors FC, PVC Association emerged victorious with a scoreline of 3-1 in the GFA Second Division league. Joston of PVC Association was the hero of the match, scoring three goals in the 37th, 42nd, and 72nd minutes. Goan Warriors FC pulled a goal through Noel, who scored an own goal giving a consolation for Goan Warriors.

Elsewhere, Vagator Parish Youth SC emerged victorious against Chapora Yuvak Sangh in their recent encounter at the Duler Stadium in Bardez-Goa. Vagator Parish Youth SC dominated the game from the outset, with Dawson Costa scoring the opening goal in the 3rd minute. Saif Khan then added a second goal for Vagator Parish Youth SC in the 18th minute, before Costa scored his second of the match just two minutes later.

Chapora Yuvak Sangh tried to mount a comeback in the second half, and they were awarded a penalty in the 54th minute, which was  shot right into the net  by Pratik Dhargalkar. Arjun Shetgaonkar scored a late goal for Chapora Yuvak Sangh in the 82nd minute and  Sachindanan Satlekar’s scored  the equaliser for  Chapora Yuvak Sangh   in the 90th min

In another match,  Assonora United FC defeated Pilerne sports club 1-0 at Guirim Ground on Monday.

GFA FIRST DIVISION LEAGUE

In a closely contested match, Curtorim Gymkhana edged out YC Manora with a scoreline of 1-0. The lone goal of the game came in the 31st minute, scored by Semson Fernandes of Curtorim Gymkhana. Despite several attempts by both teams, the scoreline remained the same till the final whistle. The match was played at Navelim Ground, Salcete, and was part of the GFA First Division League 2022-23 Salcete Zone.

In another match, uncolim Union  registered a narrow win  4-3 over Mandopa SC.

GFA FIRST DIVISION RESULTS

Cortalim Villagers beat YC Manora 4-1 in GFA First Division League on Tuesday at Nagao Panchayat ground.
A Fernandes opened the scoring for for the winners in the 8th minute. Cortalim Villagers doubled their lead through P. Fernandes in the 13th minute. YC Manora scored their lone goal through S Barbosa.
In the second half, Cortalim Villagers defenders stood like rocks not allowing YC Manora to score. Cortalim Villagers scored their third through P. Fernandes thereby completing his brace. C. Dias scored in 90+2 minute for the winners.

In another match, CC Cavelossim defeated Cuncolim Union  2-1 in GFA First Division league on Tuesday at Navelim ground.

The match started on an attacking note. Ronaldo Coelho broke the deadlock for the winners in the 34th minute. 
At the breather SCC Cavelossim were in lead 1-0.   

In the second half Cuncolim Union equalised through J. Fernandes in the 82 minute. Pidroy Carvalho of  SCC Cavelossim scored in the 84th minute securing the victory.

Nuvem SC secured a 1-0 win against Curtorim Gymkhana

Nuvem SC secured a 1-0 win against Curtorim Gymkhana in the GFA First Division League 2022-23 Salacte zone. The match, which was held at Navelim Ground in Salcete, Goa, saw both teams battling hard for a win, but it was Nuvem SC who ultimately emerged victorious.

Despite the early chances created by Curtorim Gymkhana, Nuvem SC maintained their composure and kept the pressure on their opponents. The first half of the match saw both teams evenly matched, with neither side managing to score a goal.

In the second half, Curtorim Gymkhana came close to breaking the deadlock on several occasions, but their efforts were thwarted by some excellent goalkeeping by the Nuvem SC goalkeeper. With the match looking set to end in a draw, the tension was palpable in the closing stages of the game.

In the 90+4 th minute, Nuvem SC launched a counter and managed to get match-winner through Shubert Colaco who sent the Nuvem SC fans into raptures.

Curtorim Gymkhana tried their best to find an equalizer in the remaining minutes, but Nuvem SC’s defense held firm, and the match ended with a 1-0 scoreline.

St. Jose de Areal DEFEATED Mandopa SC 2-1

St. Jose de Areal emerged victorious over Mandopa SC with a 2-1 win in the GFA First Division League 2022-23 Salcate Zone. The match was played at the Nagao Panchayat Ground in Salcete, Goa, and started at 4:00 PM.

From the kickoff, it was clear that both teams were evenly matched, with each trying to gain an early advantage. The Mandopa SC attack was relentless, with Ajay Rajam leading the charge, but the St. Jose de Areal defense proved to be a tough nut to crack. However, it was St. Jose who struck first, as Silva found the back of the net in the 68th minute with a well-placed shot.

Mandopa SC refused to give up, and their persistence paid off as Ajay Rajam scored an equalizer in the 71st minute, much to the delight of the home crowd. The momentum seemed to have shifted in Mandopa’s favor, but St. Jose had other plans. In the 84th minute, Shane Alphonse managed to break through the Mandopa defense and score a goal, putting St. Jose in the lead once again.

Himachal Pradesh emerge Group III winners; Goa held by Odisha

Himachal Pradesh emerged Group III winners having maintained their unbeaten run in the 27th Senior Women’s National Football, with a comprehensive 19-1 win over Andhra Pradesh, at PJN stadium, Fatorda.

GFA President Dr. Caitano Fernandes, GFA Vice Presidents Anthony Pango and Jonathan De Souza and  chairperson of the All India Football Federation Valanka Alemao gave the award to the H.P. coach Vaman Chari.

Meanwhile, Goa, who gave a tough fight to Odisha in the other fixture had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their ultimate clash. The result saw Goa finish third with seven points and miss out on the place to qualify. The result also left Odisha finishing with eight points in second position. They now depend on the results of the other teams as four best second placed teams among the six groups will qualify for the next round.

Knowing that nothing less than a win would give Goa a lifeline to qualify for the next phase, the hosts started on the attacking front. Playing against a team which had scored 23 goals in their last three games, Goa didn’t shy away, instead putting up a finest display surprising the crowd and their opponents. 

In the last three games, Goa had scored 12 goals and Karen Estrocio had netted the maximum. And if Goa needed any goals, it was sure it would be the striker to score for the hosts. And she delivered just before the breather scoring a beauty to put Goa ahead in the game.

The goal gave Goa some respite and hopes of making it through. Moreover it was the result which would help them earn recognition, knowing how good their opponents were. But just when they had started believing in themselves, an error from the keeper helped the visitors to capitalize and equalize in the 65th minute through Satyabati Khadi. 

The scores remained 1-1 till the final whistle.

In the earlier fixture, Himachal Pradesh, coached by former Dempo SC academy coach Vaman Chari recorded another impressive win. Anju smashed in seven goals while Poonam and Manisha netted a treble each. Naketa and skipper Riya Sharma scored a brace for the winning side. H.P. Poonam and Nisha were the other goal getters for the winners. For Andhra Pradesh, it was Kolluru Anuradha with the only goal for her team in the 24th minute.

Panjim Footballers and Sesa FA played out a 1-1 draw in the CAM Goa Professional League (Relegation League) at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.

Panjim Footballers climbed to 11 points from 13 games while Sesa FA have secured their season moving to 17 points from 14 games. 

Sesa FA had the first real chance early on when Omkar Shetgaonkar set up Chaitan Dabholkar in the box, but the striker saw his low weak shot hit the side post. Minutes later, Clencio Pinto saw his effort hit the side netting.

In the 27th minute, Panjim Footballers took the lead through Selwyn Rodrigues, whose direct freekick gave no chance for the rival keeper.

In the 38th minute, Sesa FA came with a reply when Omkar played a through pass to Clencio Pinto, and the lad coolly finished past the keeper.

Later Pajim came close to scoring through Dhiraj Chouhan but his looping header  was cleared off the line by Roanal Gaunkar.

There were hardly any moves created by either side till the end as the match ended 1-1.

 Meanwhile in another match at Nagoa ground, Guardian Angel Sports Club recorded a crucial 3-1 win over Vasco SC.

Vasco SC remained rooted at the bottom of the table with 10 points from 13 games while Guardian Angel SC secured their safety moving to 13 points from 13 games. Guardian Angel SC now defeated Vasco SC in both legs. They beat them 1-0 in the first leg.

On Friday, Guardian Angel SC took the lead through their foreign recruit Frank Adusei in the 19th minute. The Curchorem side doubled the tally just before the breather through Joywin Costa.

In the second half, Joywin made the issues safe, scoring Guardian Angel SC’s third in the 67th minute.

Vasco SC managed to pull a late goal through Francisco Fernandes in the 74th minute. 

Vasco’s Clifford Costa was shown a red in the stoppage time for a double booking.

FC Goa, Calangute share points

FC Goa and Calangute Association played out a 1-1 draw in the CAM Goa Professional League Super League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.

FC Goa had the first shot at goal in the fifth minute but Vellington Fernandes’ low right foot shot went wide.

At the other end, Calangute Association nearly took the lead when a defensive mix up saw Nigel Silveira get the ball inside the box and the midfielder fired at FC Goa goal from close only to see keeper Hansel Coelho save at the near post.

At the other end, FC Goa nearly took the lead when their player nearly beat Calangute keeper Presley Mascarenhas, but the goal bound effort was cleared off the line by a Calangute defender. 

In the second half, Nigel Silveira had another run at FC Goa goal and once again his on target effort was dealt by FC Goa keeper Hansel. Later, Moises Dsa attempted from a distance, only to see his effort go wide.

At the other end, FC Goa should have taken the lead when Shanon Viegas sent in a low cross in the area to Jovial Dias, and with the entire goal open, the player placed the ball wide. 

Later FC Goa’s Delton Colaco saw his header being saved by the Calangute keeper Presley. 

Calangute Association took the lead with a brilliantly taken freekick by Moises D’Sa which had no answer from the rival keeper.

FC Goa still had time to get the equalizer and they were given a chance in the stoppage time when they were awarded a penalty. Shanon stepped over and coolly converted the spot kick.
