Churchill Brothers FC defeated Salgaocar FC

Churchill Brothers FC defeated Salgaocar FC 2-1 in the CAM Goa Professional League Super League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Wednesday.

Salgaocar FC’s Mark Carvalho had the first attempt at goal where he tried his luck from outside the box only to see it hit the side netting.

Minutes later Mark Carvalho was set through on goal by Ribhav wherein he had to cover some distance and attempted a shot at goal, this time the effort was on target but Churchill keeper Nora Fernandes came with a fine save.

Salgaocar had a series of corners but they failed to make any use of it.

At the other end, Churchill Brothers broke the deadlock in the 18th minute through a well team goal. Hayden Fernandes initiated the move where he played it to Chaitan, who flashed in a cross from the left to Jobern Cardozo. The lad played it across the face of the goal to Malsawmdawngkima, who tapped in, beating the keeper, 1-0.

Salgaocar FC came with an instant reply equalising in the next minute and this time Mark Carvalho made no mistake slamming the ball past Nora, 1-1.

Churchill keeper Nora Fernandes came with a brilliant save to deny Beckham Dias from inside the box after the midfielder was set through by Mark.

Churchill Bros defence stood tall in the first half to deny Mark and Samuel from creating any danger. 

The teams were tied 1-1 at the break.

In the second half, Nora continued to guard the goal, saving a couple of efforts. Salgaocar nearly took the lead but they were denied by the post.

At the other end, second half substitute Aaron Barrett scored the match winner in the 83rd minute when he was fed in by a low cross from the right flank. 

Later Malsawmdawngkima came agonisingly close in scoring his second goal but his header narrowly missed the side post.

Dempo SC score narrow win against Calangtue 

Dempo Sports Club recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Calangute Association in the CAM Goa Professional League (Super League) at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Saturday.

Gaurav Kankonkar scored the only goal of the game for the winning team.

With this win, Dempo SC climbed to the top of the table with 26 points while Calangute Association remained on 19 points from 13 matches. 

Calangute Association had the first shot at goal early in the 5th minute but Nigel Silveira’s strike from a distance went wide.

At the other end, Dempo broke the deadlock when Mohamed Ali put in a delicious ball to Gaurav Kankonkar for a simple tap in and the midfielder made no mistake in scoring the goal past Calangute’s Presley Mascarenhas.

At the half hour mark, Jaison Vaz sent in a through pass to Darrel Mascarenhas whose low drive went wide. 

At the other end, Calangute came up with a quick counter when Nigel sent in a pass to Junior Carret, whose shot narrowly missed the mark.

Dempo’s Necio attempted a spectacular goal but Calangute keeper Mascarenhas was equal to the task.

At the hour mark, Dempo nearly doubled the lead only to see his effort hit the crossbar. Later Presley came with another save to deny Necio.

Dempo’s Dylan Dsilva came with a fine save to deny Calangute a chance from scoring. Calangute’s Jovito had a couple of his efforts saved by the Dempo’s custodian. 

Dempo continued to miss chances and this time it was Ariston who hit straight to the keeper. Dempo’s Dylan came with a crucial save to deny Richard Cardoz in stoppage time.

Sesa FA, Vasco SC register wins

Sesa FA scored a hard-fought 1-0 win over Velsao SCC in the CAM Goa Professional League (Relegation league) at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.

Clencio scored the only goal of the game for Sesa in the second half. 

Sesa FC had the first chance in the 5th minute but Clencio Pinto’s shot from inside the box was brilliantly saved by Velsao keeper Rahul. At the other end, Velsao came agonisingly close in the 13th minute but Shario Gomes saw his low effort hit the post and come back to play which was ultimately cleared by Sesa defender.

Velsao once again came close to scoring in the next minute when Velroy Carvalho leapt highest and connected brilliantly to a flag kick directing it in the frame, only to be denied by Myron Pereira off the line.

Velsao dominated the early minutes of the game creating numerous chances but couldn’t get past the Sesa keeper Roanal Gaunkar, who saved a couple of efforts. Later Romario Dcosta tried his luck from a distance but Roanal’s brilliance in goal kept the scores intact.

At the other end, Sesa’s Daniel Gomes missed a chance to score from a header. It was goalless at the break.

In the second half, Sesa came in with renewed ideas creating space and using the flanks for their attack. In the 50th minute, Mohammed Faheez danced his way past couple of rival defenders and was with just the keeper at his sight, but his shot was saved by Velsao keeper Rahul.

At the hour mark, Clencio Pinto finally broke the deadlock after heading in a M Faheez cross. The striker made amends for his earlier miss where he shot wide with just the keeper at his mercy.

Velsao missed the chance to equalise when a goalmouth melee beat the keeper and the ball nearly rolled in only to be cleared of the line by Myron. However the ball travelled to Velroy, who shot from outside the box and hit the post.

Velsao earned a couple of corners late in the game, however, they failed to make any use of it. There was a shout for a penalty when Velsao’s Imran went down in the box, but the referee showed no interest.

In the stoppage time, Sesa’s Roanal Gaunkar came with a brilliant save  to deny Imran, whose powerful strike was punched out for a corner before ricocheting off the crossbar.

Meanwhile at Nagoa ground, Vasco SC defeated Panjim Footballers 2-0. Vasco SC scored in either half through Khrawkupar Tamu (43’) and first half substitute Savlon Fernandes, who scored in stoppage time (90+5).

By virtue of these results; Sesa FA now have 15 points from 12 games, while Vasco SC leapfrogged Guardian Angel moving to 9 points from 11 games. Guardian Angel SC are bottom of the table with 7 points having played 11 games. Panjim Footballers, who suffered a defeat on Friday stay on 11 points along with Velsao SCC, having played 12 games.

Rising Star S & Cultural Club emerged as the winners of  G.F.A. U13 Mormugao zone 

In a thrilling match that saw Rising Star Sports & Cultural Club take on Baina Sports Club at the Tilak Maidan, Vasco da Gama, Rising Star emerged victorious with a commanding 6-1 win. The team’s Executive member Andrew Ferrao, Coach Deepak Naik, and team Manager Lovino Goes were all present to witness the momentous victory.

Rising Star started the match strong, taking the lead early on and maintaining their dominance throughout the first half. They went into halftime with a 2-1 lead, but it was clear that they were not satisfied with just a narrow margin.

In the second half, Rising Star came out even stronger, with star player Nishan Phadke leading the charge with a stunning hattrick. Prolific striker Kanya Chand also added to the scoreline with two goals, while Mrunal Patil scored the other.

Baina Sports Club fought hard to stay in the game, but they were only able to reduce the margin through a goal from Nafis Mulla. In the end, however, it was not enough to stop Rising Star Sports & Cultural Club from emerging as the Champions of the GFA U 13yrs League (Mormugao Zone).

The victory was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Rising Star team, who had put in countless hours of training and preparation to reach this point. It was also a moment of great pride for the team’s supporters, who had cheered them on every step of the way.

Thrilling win for sporting

Sporting Clube de Goa scored a thrilling 3-2 win over Salgaocar FC in the CAM Goa Pro League (Super League) at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Wednesday.

Salgaocar had a first shot on rival goal but Mark Carvalho’s shot was easily collected by Sporting keeper.
At the other end, Sporting Clube de Goa broke the deadlock from a well executed corner kick after they played a shot corner which was put inside the danger area by Lloyd Cardozo and Clive Miranda pounced to score a looping header which gave no chance for the rival keeper. The Flaming Oranje led 1-0 at the break.

In the second half, Salgaocar came back strongly and Fhezer Gomes equalised in the 50th minute. Mark Carvalho made the initial spade work before setting Fhezer, who scoring within four minutes of coming on as a second half substitute.

Flaming Oranje regained their lead within minute when a quick move when Lloyd Cardozo set up Rohan Rodrigues on the right flank. The midfielder kept his composure and fired a low grounder to make it 2-1.

But Salgaocar equalised within two minutes from a setpiece. This time it was Mark Carvalho who scored giving no chance for Sporting keeper Bhaskar Jalmi.

Sporting nearly regained their lead in the 85th minute but Marcus Mascarenhas saw his low volley brilliantly saved by Salgaocar keeper Jason Dmelo.
However, after failing to score from series of corners, the Flaming Oranje netted the match winner in the stoppage time when Salgaocar Jason failed to deal with Myron’s header which then fell to an unmarked Joel Colaco, who slammed the ball at the roof of the net to give three points to Sporting.
