Sirlim SC registered an emphatic victory against Sporting Club de Rumdamol 

Sirlim SC registered an emphatic victory against Sporting Club de Rumdamol in their recent encounter at Dramapur Ground in the GFA U-15 Division II League – Salcete Zone Group B. Sirlim SC won the match convincingly with a scoreline of 8-1. Dallon Niasso opened the scoring for Sirlim SC in the 11th minute, while Abner added another goal in the 19th minute. Sporting Club de Rumdamol responded through Frenston Gaonkar, who scored in the 48th minute, but it wasn’t enough to stop Sirlim SC. Prindon Fernandes, Dallon Niasso, Abner Lourenco, and Samuel Colaco all contributed with goals for Sirlim SC, with Samuel Colaco scoring two goals in the 62nd and 69th minute respectively.

 Football Club YFA beat Navelim Villagers Union SC

In what was an utterly dominant performance, Football Club YFA defeated Navelim Villagers Union SC with a record-breaking score of 20-0 at the Sag Ground in Benaulim, Salcete-Goa. Navelim Villagers Union SC had no answer to the blistering pace and clinical finishing of their opponents, who scored at will throughout the match. Warren Rodrigues opened the scoring for Football Club YFA in the 3rd minute and it was all one-way traffic from there on. Christiano Carvalho, Trond Dias, Eric Teles, Trivin Faleiro, Jaime Soares, Zane Reveredo, and Lochlan Souza were the other scorers for Football Club YFA, with Eric Teles and Jaime Soares both bagging a brace of goals. Despite a spirited effort, Navelim Villagers Union SC could not muster a response and were left to rue what was undoubtedly a forgettable outing. The result marks a new low for Navelim Villagers Union SC, while Football Club YFA will be delighted with the emphatic victory which puts them in a commanding position in the league.

Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim defeated Curtorim Gymkhana

In an exciting match held at the Navelim Ground, Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim defeated Curtorim Gymkhana with a score of 2-1. The match was evenly contested by both teams, with the first half ending goalless.


However, in the 53rd minute, Hanslum Furtado of Curtorim Gymkhana scored a stunning goal to take the lead. Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim responded with vigor and Charles Miranda scored a brilliant goal in the 67th minute to level the score.

The game continued to be intense with both teams trying to get ahead. Finally, in the 76th minute, Kanchan Kiro of Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim scored the winning goal, sealing the victory for his team.

Vasco United SC DEFEATED Patrong SC

In a thrilling encounter at Chicalim Panchayat ground, Vasco United SC emerged victorious over Patrong SC with a convincing 3-0 scoreline in the GFA III Division League 2022-23 Mormugao Zone. Vasco United SC dominated the match from the beginning, displaying a dominant performance in both attack and defense. In the 37th minute, Venzilo Soares opened the scoring for Vasco United SC with a well-placed shot, followed by Shivam Baraik’s goal just before halftime. In the second half, Vasco United SC continued to dominate and Venzilo Soares scored his second goal of the match in the 77th minute, securing a well-deserved victory for his team.

In a highly anticipated GFA First Division League match in the Salcete Zone, Cortalim Villagers and SCC Cavelossim Navelim faced off against each other. The match was held at 4.00 PM and both teams were eager to secure a win.

Cortalim Villagers started the match strongly, with Preston Fernandes scoring a goal in the 45+3 minute, giving his team a 1-0 lead at halftime. SCC Cavelossim Navelim dominated the second half, and finally, in the 78th minute, Maven Gracras scored an equalizer for his team, making the score 1-1.

Despite both teams’ efforts to score a winning goal, the match ended in a draw.

Nuvem SC secured a 1-0 win against Curtorim Gymkhana

Nuvem SC secured a 1-0 win against Curtorim Gymkhana in the GFA First Division League 2022-23 Salacte zone. The match, which was held at Navelim Ground in Salcete, Goa, saw both teams battling hard for a win, but it was Nuvem SC who ultimately emerged victorious.

Despite the early chances created by Curtorim Gymkhana, Nuvem SC maintained their composure and kept the pressure on their opponents. The first half of the match saw both teams evenly matched, with neither side managing to score a goal.

In the second half, Curtorim Gymkhana came close to breaking the deadlock on several occasions, but their efforts were thwarted by some excellent goalkeeping by the Nuvem SC goalkeeper. With the match looking set to end in a draw, the tension was palpable in the closing stages of the game.

In the 90+4 th minute, Nuvem SC launched a counter and managed to get match-winner through Shubert Colaco who sent the Nuvem SC fans into raptures.

Curtorim Gymkhana tried their best to find an equalizer in the remaining minutes, but Nuvem SC’s defense held firm, and the match ended with a 1-0 scoreline.

Himachal Pradesh emerge Group III winners; Goa held by Odisha

Himachal Pradesh emerged Group III winners having maintained their unbeaten run in the 27th Senior Women’s National Football, with a comprehensive 19-1 win over Andhra Pradesh, at PJN stadium, Fatorda.

GFA President Dr. Caitano Fernandes, GFA Vice Presidents Anthony Pango and Jonathan De Souza and  chairperson of the All India Football Federation Valanka Alemao gave the award to the H.P. coach Vaman Chari.

Meanwhile, Goa, who gave a tough fight to Odisha in the other fixture had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their ultimate clash. The result saw Goa finish third with seven points and miss out on the place to qualify. The result also left Odisha finishing with eight points in second position. They now depend on the results of the other teams as four best second placed teams among the six groups will qualify for the next round.

Knowing that nothing less than a win would give Goa a lifeline to qualify for the next phase, the hosts started on the attacking front. Playing against a team which had scored 23 goals in their last three games, Goa didn’t shy away, instead putting up a finest display surprising the crowd and their opponents. 

In the last three games, Goa had scored 12 goals and Karen Estrocio had netted the maximum. And if Goa needed any goals, it was sure it would be the striker to score for the hosts. And she delivered just before the breather scoring a beauty to put Goa ahead in the game.

The goal gave Goa some respite and hopes of making it through. Moreover it was the result which would help them earn recognition, knowing how good their opponents were. But just when they had started believing in themselves, an error from the keeper helped the visitors to capitalize and equalize in the 65th minute through Satyabati Khadi. 

The scores remained 1-1 till the final whistle.

In the earlier fixture, Himachal Pradesh, coached by former Dempo SC academy coach Vaman Chari recorded another impressive win. Anju smashed in seven goals while Poonam and Manisha netted a treble each. Naketa and skipper Riya Sharma scored a brace for the winning side. H.P. Poonam and Nisha were the other goal getters for the winners. For Andhra Pradesh, it was Kolluru Anuradha with the only goal for her team in the 24th minute.

FC Goa, Calangute share points

FC Goa and Calangute Association played out a 1-1 draw in the CAM Goa Professional League Super League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.

FC Goa had the first shot at goal in the fifth minute but Vellington Fernandes’ low right foot shot went wide.

At the other end, Calangute Association nearly took the lead when a defensive mix up saw Nigel Silveira get the ball inside the box and the midfielder fired at FC Goa goal from close only to see keeper Hansel Coelho save at the near post.

At the other end, FC Goa nearly took the lead when their player nearly beat Calangute keeper Presley Mascarenhas, but the goal bound effort was cleared off the line by a Calangute defender. 

In the second half, Nigel Silveira had another run at FC Goa goal and once again his on target effort was dealt by FC Goa keeper Hansel. Later, Moises Dsa attempted from a distance, only to see his effort go wide.

At the other end, FC Goa should have taken the lead when Shanon Viegas sent in a low cross in the area to Jovial Dias, and with the entire goal open, the player placed the ball wide. 

Later FC Goa’s Delton Colaco saw his header being saved by the Calangute keeper Presley. 

Calangute Association took the lead with a brilliantly taken freekick by Moises D’Sa which had no answer from the rival keeper.

FC Goa still had time to get the equalizer and they were given a chance in the stoppage time when they were awarded a penalty. Shanon stepped over and coolly converted the spot kick.

Churchill Brothers FC defeated Salgaocar FC

Churchill Brothers FC defeated Salgaocar FC 2-1 in the CAM Goa Professional League Super League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Wednesday.

Salgaocar FC’s Mark Carvalho had the first attempt at goal where he tried his luck from outside the box only to see it hit the side netting.

Minutes later Mark Carvalho was set through on goal by Ribhav wherein he had to cover some distance and attempted a shot at goal, this time the effort was on target but Churchill keeper Nora Fernandes came with a fine save.

Salgaocar had a series of corners but they failed to make any use of it.

At the other end, Churchill Brothers broke the deadlock in the 18th minute through a well team goal. Hayden Fernandes initiated the move where he played it to Chaitan, who flashed in a cross from the left to Jobern Cardozo. The lad played it across the face of the goal to Malsawmdawngkima, who tapped in, beating the keeper, 1-0.

Salgaocar FC came with an instant reply equalising in the next minute and this time Mark Carvalho made no mistake slamming the ball past Nora, 1-1.

Churchill keeper Nora Fernandes came with a brilliant save to deny Beckham Dias from inside the box after the midfielder was set through by Mark.

Churchill Bros defence stood tall in the first half to deny Mark and Samuel from creating any danger. 

The teams were tied 1-1 at the break.

In the second half, Nora continued to guard the goal, saving a couple of efforts. Salgaocar nearly took the lead but they were denied by the post.

At the other end, second half substitute Aaron Barrett scored the match winner in the 83rd minute when he was fed in by a low cross from the right flank. 

Later Malsawmdawngkima came agonisingly close in scoring his second goal but his header narrowly missed the side post.

Dempo SC score narrow win against Calangtue 

Dempo Sports Club recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Calangute Association in the CAM Goa Professional League (Super League) at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Saturday.

Gaurav Kankonkar scored the only goal of the game for the winning team.

With this win, Dempo SC climbed to the top of the table with 26 points while Calangute Association remained on 19 points from 13 matches. 

Calangute Association had the first shot at goal early in the 5th minute but Nigel Silveira’s strike from a distance went wide.

At the other end, Dempo broke the deadlock when Mohamed Ali put in a delicious ball to Gaurav Kankonkar for a simple tap in and the midfielder made no mistake in scoring the goal past Calangute’s Presley Mascarenhas.

At the half hour mark, Jaison Vaz sent in a through pass to Darrel Mascarenhas whose low drive went wide. 

At the other end, Calangute came up with a quick counter when Nigel sent in a pass to Junior Carret, whose shot narrowly missed the mark.

Dempo’s Necio attempted a spectacular goal but Calangute keeper Mascarenhas was equal to the task.

At the hour mark, Dempo nearly doubled the lead only to see his effort hit the crossbar. Later Presley came with another save to deny Necio.

Dempo’s Dylan Dsilva came with a fine save to deny Calangute a chance from scoring. Calangute’s Jovito had a couple of his efforts saved by the Dempo’s custodian. 

Dempo continued to miss chances and this time it was Ariston who hit straight to the keeper. Dempo’s Dylan came with a crucial save to deny Richard Cardoz in stoppage time.
